As we commemorate
the prize distribution of the year 2000 on 25th May 2001, I consider my first
priority to congratulate all the prizewinners to whom the day is primarily
dedicated. The selection of
the prizewinners was done according to the criteria suggested by the Ministry of
Education. There is no suggested criterion for the primary grades. There fore,
students in the primary grades will not be awarded any prizes. It is with great
pride that Lh. Atoll Education Centre celebrates this prize day. This is a
uniquely special celebration for this centre in many aspects. For the first time
in the history of Faadhippolhu and Lh. AEC, a student of this centre has
achieved to the standard to be placed among the national top ten. Additionally,
the special award by the Faadhippolhu Atoll Development Committee is also
awarded to a student of this centre. Lh. Atoll
Education Centre is still quite young among the secondary schools, but the
progress we have been able to make within such a short period is truly an
example to other schools in Lh. Atoll and other regions. As you may be
aware, the function of education at present varies immensely from what it used
to be in the past. With the powerful tide of development, education also faces
numerous challenges and changes – not only in how we perceive providing
education but also in how students acquire it. Indubitably, the success we enjoy
today is a result of our ability to face the various challenges and our
willingness to accept the changes. The concern for
the development of this centre by the teachers, parents, coordinators, staff and
the school management team including the concerned persons of Ministry of
Education also contributed to our success. There fore, I take this opportunity
to extend my gratitude to all concerned. Evidently,
but for the student’s hard work and diligence, this day would not be
celebrated at all. Most of our students were actively engaged in learning and
they were certain of the goals they wanted to achieve. I congratulate all of
them for the success they obviously deserve. On this
occasion I also thank the Island office, Atoll office, and the others for the
assistance extended to us. Before I
conclude, I warmly thank those among our staff, and others, who have contributed
to make this prize day function successful and colourful. May Allah bless this Centre and every one of us. Thank you. |
